Perhaps the biggest mystery of the Destiny 2 forges is the appropriately titled mysterious box. As a yellow-colored quest step, the mysterious box is assumed to be the key to one of the new exotic weapons included with the Black Armory DLC, but which one is unclear. And players won’t get any answers until the box is opened, which requires four keys.
Thus far, two keys have been found: the fishhook key that we detailed previously and now the hand key. As expected, this key can be found in the Gofannon Forge that launched on Friday.
Just like with the fishhook key, the team will need to wait until the start of round 2 to start the process. Right at the start, two Saboteur drones will spawn in the arena and must be shot immediately. One will spawn near the generator in the very back of the arena. The other is to the left near the “spawn door.”
After destroying both Saboteur drones, the team should have a buff called Maximum Temper in their kill feed. If so, continue the Gofannon Forge by tossing 20 batteries into the forge and then defeating the large Servitor boss at the end. Once the Servitor falls, a Forge cache should spawn next to the forge, which the team can open and claim the hand key. Then go into the inventory and “use” the hand key to open the hand lock on the mysterious box.
Unfortunately, the other two Destiny 2 forges are not active just yet, but one will be available next week at Tuesday reset. And then the final forge, Niobe Labs, will activate in January. In other words, players still have a wait ahead of them before they find all keys and unlock the box to see what’s inside.
Destiny 2: Black Armory is available now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
