The Fourth Horseman in Destiny 2 shares the same “Thunderer” perk as the original version, which allows for faster and full-auto fire. But the new version of The Fourth Horseman has a secondary exotic perk called “Broadside” that gives each successive shot more damage and more spread. “Broadside” replaces the “Return to Sender” perk that had a chance to grant bonus ammo back to the magazine upon getting a kill.

The Fourth Horseman is unlocked through an exotic quest with the following steps. Spoilers for the quest follow.

1. Enter the Vault

Zavala will call on Guardians to enter his office and find a secret pathway through the Tower. This is very reminiscent of the Leviathan’s Breath quest that Banshee sent players on in the Tower as they navigated through a secret entrance and through different ducts and shafts of the Tower to find the location of Leviathan’s Breath in a hidden room.

2. Missing in Action

At the end of the path through Zavala’s office, players will find that The Fourth Horseman is missing from its place. The next step of the quest is to return to Zavala and tell him the news.

3. Fresh Lead

From there, Zavala will tell players to go talk to Ana Bray, who is featured in this season along with Zavala, for a lead in tracking down the missing exotic. Players should fly to Hellas Basin on Mars and proceed to go talk to Ana Bray.

4. On the Hunt

Ana gives players the mission to defeat Cabal and/or complete public events on Mars. This is straightforward and self-explanatory. Players need to collect 1,000 pieces of intel from Cabal and public events to progress to the next quest step.

5. Return to Ana

Next, simply return to Ana to progress to…

6. In the Shadows

Players will stay on Mars as they need to defeat Psions and open Cabal chests in order to collect 50 pieces of data. Easily the best place to do this is the Ma’adim Subterrane Lost Sector in Glacial Drift on Mars. When players fly into Glacial Drift, they should keep their eyes open for Cabal chests, or equip a Ghost Shell with the Treasure Hunter perk (such as the Eris Morn Ghost Shell from Shadowkeep) to help detect them, as they progress to the right side of the area to go into the Lost Sector. This Lost Sector is plentiful with Psions so it should be a good spot to farm.

7. Under Our Nose

From there, players need to fly back to the Tower, specifically the Annex landing zone, to talk to Benedict 99-40.

8. Dirty Work

Here’s another quest step that will require 1000 items to be collected, but this time they are encryption signals that will come from getting kills in the EDZ, by completing public events, and also patrols. The EDZ is littered with frequent public events, which is likely to be the most efficient way to both kill enemies and complete public events. There may also be the chance that completing Heroic public events could grant increased items.

9. Rein it In

Then, it’s back to Benedict 99-40 in the Tower to check-in and get the next lead for the final step of the quest.

10. Lost and Found

Finally, players will need to clear out the Legendary Lost Sector called The Quarry in Sunken Isles on the EDZ. And with that, players will receive The Fourth Horseman.

This is the second of two exotics from Season of the Worthy, one fewer than previous seasons. The other, Tommy’s Matchbook, can be collected right away from paying players on the premium track of the season pass, while it will unlock at Rank 35 on the free track.

Destiny 2 is available now for PC, PS4, Stadia, and Xbox One.
