Most Destiny 2 players will be familiar with the Prime Engram since Rahool (The Cryptarch) offers one as soon as players hit level 50. Some might balk at picking up the Prime Engram but we highly encourage everyone to do so. Without picking it up, players eliminate opportunities to get more Prime Engrams and increase their power level.
After acquiring the Prime Engram, players will unlock a buff called Prime Attunement. This buff is given to the player at each daily reset (10am PT) and it increases the drop rate of Prime Engrams from defeating challenging enemies and crucible matches.
Note that the tool tip says that the Prime Attunement buff offers a “chance,” and it’s unclear how that works. Some have received Prime Engrams within minutes of grinding, while others have yet to see their first one.
It’s also worth mentioning that the Prime Attunement buff doesn’t always go away after players obtain a Prime Engram. In some cases, players have reported obtaining multiple Prime Engram drops in a day. Apparently, it is based purely on the luck of RNG.
On top of that, although Prime Attunement helps, it is still possible to get Prime Engrams without the buff. Players will likely be grinding for longer but there are still opportunities to obtain more powerful gear once the challenges and bounties are gone. And that’s ultimately the goal right now in Destiny 2. Players are trying to get as high above power level 500 as possible to prepare for the Last Wish raid that launches on Friday.
Datamines have suggested this raid could require a very high power level, so those who want a shot at World’s First and that unique reward might need more than a few Prime Engram drops between now and next week.
Destiny 2: Forsaken is available now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
