Organized by Xûr and his special new horse friend Starhorse, the activity can be accessed on the map for free by clicking on the new Eternity tab located next to the Tangled Shore. However, going in with the proper knowledge on what to do will make the ride significantly smoother for first-time players. Here’s how to successfully complete every version of Dares of Eternity in Destiny 2.

What Is Dares Of Eternity?

Dares of Eternity is an activity that players can queue up for that requires a fireteam of 6 players. The regular version has matchmaking, but for Legend runs of Dares of Eternity, players will need to use Bungie’s LFG service to find friends.

Dares of Eternity yields quite a bit of loot and allows players to level up their rank with Xûr, who now can be accessed in his Treasure Hoard sub-location at Eternity. There, players can unlock various chests with keys and coins gained from playing Dares of Eternity to get their hands on new weapons and cool cosmetics - such as the infamous rock ship.

Pick Up Bounties

Before starting a run of Dares of Eternity, make sure to pick up some bounties. The ones sold by Xûr will not level up the player’s rank with him, but they provide a small XP+ gain when completed. The bounties players will really want are the Starhorse bounties purchased from the cosmic horse located near Xûr. Players can only hold one Starhorse bounty at a time and must complete its requirements in a single run of Dares of Eternity (otherwise, the progress is reset).

First Encounter: The Valley

The first area the players will arrive in is the Valley. A bunch of Taken need to be killed before a wheel appears, which will choose the first enemy type for this encounter. Regardless of what enemy type is chosen, the first wave after spinning the wheel only has players killing ads without any mechanics.

In the second wave, depending on the enemy type, players will need to perform specific tasks:

The round ends when the message “Starhorse’s ears perk up” appears on the left side, and a bell rings. Players can now proceed to the back of the Valley and into a jumping puzzle.

Starhorse’s Favor: The Jumping Puzzle

Successfully going through this jumping puzzle will grant players Starhorse’s Favor. This buff gives players infinite Heavy Ammo for the next round. A foolproof way of always succeeding in the first jump is to jump when one of the small rotating half orbs forms a whole orb on the right side of the rotating plates that block the entrance. Jump right as this happens and players are guaranteed to make it through without a hitch.

Second Encounter: The Vault

This indoor arena works much like the first arena. After spinning the wheel, enemies will spawn. The first wave will only have players kill enemies and several champions that spawn around the arena, including Barrier and Overload champions depending on the enemy type.

The second wave is identical to the second wave players experienced in the Valley, depending on the enemy. Check the table found in the First Encounter section to see what to do with every enemy type.

The third encounter is a mini-boss fight. Depending on the enemy type, players will have to do the following things to defeat the boss or the Paraversal Challenger:

Starhorse’s Favor: Pick The Right Door

After defeating the Paraversal Challenger, players must choose between three round plates in front of three large doors, where the challenger previously spawned. The right side has Vex, the middle has Cabal and the left side stands for Hive.

Players who guess which door will be randomly selected will receive Starhorse’s Favor, which grants them infinite Heavy Ammo recharge for the entire duration of the final boss encounter.

The Final Boss Encounter

The final bosses in Dares of Eternity are quite simple but do require a bit of mechanics to get through. Here’s what to do with each boss-type:

Lightning Round

Lucky fireteams will have a chance of increasing their loot if they get hit by a Lightning Round. As of 2021 December, these are known to be completely random, but the chance is apparently increased by being efficient. There’s a total of three Lightning Rounds, each worth one chest.

To complete the rounds, players must stay alive and capture all the zones within the time limit. All the while, Taken enemies will spawn around the map. However, there are also a bunch of Heavy Ammo crates that will appear to make the fight less hectic. Xûr’s Chosen, a special enemy, will also spawn during this time on the arena, and it’s recommended to kill him for the related anniversary triumph.

Destiny 2 was released on September 6, 2017, and is available on PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and Google Stadia.
