Last year in Destiny 2, Titans dominated the Guardian Games and have had a gold lion statue sitting next to Commander Zavala ever since. Bungie has made a number of changes for this year to adjust how classes can increase their standing each day and eventually walk away with the victory at the end of the event.

Laurels are a key part of Guardian Games as they are used to buy challenges that award medals upon completion. Firstly, Destiny 2 players will need to visit Commander Zavala in the Tower to get their Guardian Games class item.
This piece of gear will come with the ‘Friendly Competition’ perk which allows players to generate Laurels for their Destiny 2 class. Specifically, players must defeat enemies with any abilities to generate Laurels. The perk also adds a chance for players to get an extra Laurel whenever they pick one up. Players should also make sure they collect their Medal Case from Eva Levante as this lets players see how many Laurels they are carrying.
Now that players have their class item equipped, they can head into any activity and start killing enemies with their Supers, grenades, or melee abilities. Enemies will drop Laurels, which are small tetrahedron-shaped items that are a different color depending on the player’s current class. Warlocks get yellow Laurels, Hunters get blue Laurels, and Titans get red Laurels.
To collect them, players just need to walk over them, and they will shortly disappear. An item pickup notification will also pop up on the right side of a player’s screen when they collect one. Players can also collect the Laurels of other fireteam members of the same class.
Each day in Destiny 2, a Daily Focus will be active which provided boosted Laurel drops for a particular activity. For example, Vanguard Playlist Strikes may be the Daily Focus for one day, but it could be Gambit another day. The focus will change with the daily reset which is at 17:00 UTC and can be checked by looking at the Milestones tab on the Destinations Director page.
Players can also earn small amounts of Laurels by completing the two weekly Guardian Games bounties, and by completing certain Guardian Games 2021 Triumphs.
Destiny 2: Beyond Light and Season of the Chosen are available now for PC, PS4, PS5, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S.
