During a recent question and answer session, Destiny 2: Forsaken game director Steve Cotton and project lead Scott Taylor were asked about the possibility of adding an in-game looking for group system or clan chat for console players. Without hesitation, the duo quickly shot down the idea and confirmed that Bungie didn’t have any plans to add either. However, after the resounding no, Taylor left the door open just a little by adding in that a system like this wouldn’t be added with Forsaken.

While the news isn’t surprising, it is no doubt disappointing for some players, especially when compared to other games in this genre. Another popular loot-shooter, Tom Clancy’s The Division, featured a matchmaking system for every one of its in-game activities including the challenging Incursion missions. The benefit here is that solo players could opt to be paired up with other players to take part and earn high powered loot in the game’s ultimate end-game activities.

Help appears to be on the way however as a recent interview confirmed that Bungie is aware of the solo gamer plight. Without saying too much, Cotton and Taylor admitted that the studio was taking a look at how to provide more endgame activities for solo players, most of which appears to be set within the large Dreaming City location. While it appears that Raids will continue to be off limits to those not already grouped up in a Fireteam, Forsaken appears to have kept the lone wolf player in mind as well.

Destiny 2: Forsaken releases on September 4, 2018 for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
