As seen below in a blink-and-miss it moment from Game Informer’s latest video coverage for Destiny 2’s Forsaken DLC, the 0:24-0:27 mark offers up what appears to be a glimpse at a fresh Escalation Protocol mode featuring the expansion’s new antagonists dubbed the Scorn. Unfortunately, though, it isn’t addressed whether or not the footage alludes to Forsaken including this kind of mode. However, it is hinted at, with the narrator saying, “We’ve fought hundreds of the spooky new enemy faction”, over gameplay that shows content that looks like content designed like Escalation Protocol.
As many Guardians may agree, the inclusion of Escalation Protocol was one of the most enjoyable aspects of Destiny 2’s Warmind expansion, as a horde mode had been a highly requested feature for the science fiction shooter sequel. So, should Forsaken follow in Warmind’s footsteps to include its own version of the Escalation Protocol mode, then it’s safe to say lots of players will be pleased with the decision.
All things considered, it seems as if Destiny 2’s Forsaken DLC is shaping up to be one of the most sumptuous, and possibly satisfying add-ons that the franchise has seen yet, which will hopefully be the case due to the disappointing nature of the game’s previous post-launch content drops. If anything, fans can at least rest comfortably knowing that Forsaken’s new Gambit mode will offer an exciting competitive environment for PvE players with a dash of PvP.
Destiny 2’s Forsaken expansion releases on September 4, 2018 for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
