For those that may not have been following closely, Bungie gave each of its four seasons for Destiny 2 Year 2 a different name. These seasons will be complemented by events and DLC releases, some of which will be free and some of which will be not. Season of the Forge is up next and presumably it starts after the reset on November 27th.

Iron Banner

The end of a season means a few things for Destiny 2 players, mostly that some quest steps will lose progress and some gear will be pulled from the rotation. For gear, Iron Banner Season 4 armor will no longer be available after the Season of the Outlaw ends, to be replaced with a new set once Season of the Forge begins.

Weapons, on the other hand, will continue to be available throughout Destiny 2 Year 2, including those that have previously released like the Claws of the Wolf pulse rifle. It stands to reason that the Iron Banner weapon loot pool will grow in Season 5, as Bungie adds more weapons into the mix.

Crucible Weapon Quests

Perhaps the biggest reason for players to keep track of the season ending is for Crucible quests. The Luna’s Howl, Not Forgotten, and Redrix’s Broadsword quest all require that players reach a certain rank in Quickplay or Competitive, and those requirements are for a single season.

For example, the Redrix’s Broadsword quest requires 5 Valor resets in a SINGLE season, so if a player doesn’t hit 5 by November 27th they will need to start the resets all over again. Hopefully, Bungie has more double and triple Valor events planned to help speed up that process but it’s still something to keep in mind.

That being said, these weapon quests will not go away when the season changes; they are said to stay throughout year 2. More importantly, any quest steps not involving Crucible rank - like completing 10 competitive matches – will carry over.

Triumphs

Finally, players have a few Triumphs tied to the Season, mainly Crucible ranks and Vanguard ranks. Make sure to hit those thresholds before November 27th.

With about three weeks left, Destiny 2 players now have a ticking clock. There is one more Iron Banner event set for next week and then the focus turns to everything else.

Destiny 2 is available now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
