The first inkling of Solar Week came after data mined files appeared to contain references to a focus on Solar subclass path improvements, Solar-themed emotes and Solar-based activities. These references were very similar to the Arc Week event back during Season of the Drifter, so naturally many fans believed Solar Week would appear before the release of Shadowkeep.

The problem is, Solar Week has yet to appear and time is running out before the release of Shadowkeep, even with its delay to October 1st. Many still held hope that it would be a surprise event in the near future, but Bungie community manager Dylan “dmg04” Gafner put the rumors to rest and posted on the Destiny subreddit saying that Solar Week is not coming to Destiny 2:
Often, there are files in a game’s files that are a placeholder, partially complete, or a remnant of a canceled feature, and that appears to be along the lines of what the data mined files about Solar Week are. Based on this statement from Bungie, it’s clear that Solar Week is not in any of the current plans that Bungie has for Destiny 2, but that does not mean it will never come to the game.
Haven’t communicated one, nor have we plotted one on a roadmap. If we ever do one, you’ll hear it from us.

Like Arc Week, a theoretical Solar Week would have probably brought rebalanced Solar subclass trees. While that will not be coming to the game as part of Solar Week, Bungie is making a lot of changes to Destiny 2 with the release of the Shadowkeep expansion this fall, and based on comments about changes coming this fall to roaming supers, weapon rebalancing, and more, it’s likely that players are going to get many more changes to the game overall than they ever would have in Solar Week. Not getting Gjallarhorn is still a bummer, though.
