In another update to the situation, Bungie now admits that it did accidentally ban some Destiny 2 PC players from the game. In a brief statement, the developer explains that “As part of our ban review process, we have identified a group of players who were banned in error. Those players have been unbanned.” Bungie goes on to say that these bans were unrelated to the third-party programs OBS, Discord, Xsplit or RTSS and vows to “continue to review the process we use to ensure a fun and fair game.”

After Bungie issued its initial explanation for the bans, many players maintained that they had been banned unfairly. Bungie’s new update confirms those suspicions and many will be glad to know that their bans have been reversed and that it really was just an accident. As Bungie vows to keep reviewing its ban process, it should also give Destiny 2 PC players some confidence that nothing like this will happen again.

But some players on PC may roll their eyes, angry that something like this could happen at all and that Bungie didn’t plan ahead. While the PC release of Destiny 2 has been nowhere near as poor as other, infamously broken game launches, it hasn’t been smooth sailing either.

The list of known Destiny 2 PC issues includes things like crashes as soon as players enter the game. Players using AMD Phenom processors say that they cannot enjoy any of the first-person shooter’s gameplay because as soon as they select their character, the game just breaks. The fact that the game cannot be exited using a controller and players must use a mouse to exit the game is just an example of the small, but annoying issues that players are currently facing on PC.

Hopefully, Bungie will be able to iron out these kinks soon, as much of these problems do seem to be teething issues. The accidental bans have not endeared the developer to its new PC fanbase, but things should be on the up from here.

Destiny 2 is out now on PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
